Quality
Quality and Engineering are intimately related in fact, despite the
organizational wall frequently erected between them. My title for many years was
Quality/Engineering Manager. In that capacity I made sure that the customers'
designs would meet their needs before we took an order. This often entailed
systems review, design for manufacture, and liaison to ensure success.
Also included were:
- Creating complete quality systems, including policies and manuals,
document control system, calibration, management responsibility, etc., to the
requirements of
ISO-9001 and MIL-I-45208A
- Creating and documenting test methods to enable verification
- Documentation of customer requirements, test methods and records, and
calibration
- Audits to ensure systems are working properly
- Procedures and training to prepare the department to be self-sufficient
- Awareness training of entire company
